GSE (GIAC Security Expert)

The GSE (GIAC Security Expert) is the top, most difficult to attain certification offered by GIAC (SANS Institute). The GSE is only for expert-level technology professionals and demonstrates a mastery of information security in more than one focus area.

Pursuing the GSE has prerequisites as well as a lengthy testing period. Candidates must already have GSEC, GCIA and GCIH (all by GIAC / SANS Institute) with GIAC Gold scoring in two of the three, with a threshold score of 80 points or more on the two GIAC Gold achievements.

The GSE exam itself consists of a mix of writing, research, hands-on technical work, solo presentation, and group work. All of this takes 23 hours and is administered and proctored onsite.

“The GSE is the most difficult to attain professional certification in the field of cybersecurity. Few people have such a certification.”
