Keep Users Up to Date and Secure with Version Control

The HYPR Spring Release (6.10) brings exciting new features and enhancements for a stable, secure, and simple passwordless experience. From improving the user experience to adding security features that’ll make compliance auditors smile, the HYPR Spring Release creates a clear and safe path to passwordless security.

Addressing Security & Compliance

HYPR strives to ensure the most secure passwordless experience without disrupting the user experience. HYPR is a favorite of end-users because they’re able to employ their own smartphones to authenticate. This may give administrators pause, however, as admins have little to no control over the devices themselves.

To keep up with internal and external compliance regulations that our customers face, with our spring release HYPR has introduced admin-defined mobile version control to establish a minimum OS and HYPR mobile app version requirement that extends to the entire user base.

With these rules in place, users cannot pair devices or authenticate into protected resources without updating their device to the required version. To make the rollout process easy, administrators can define an authentication warning period during which users are still able to authenticate successfully, but are prompted to update their device or mobile application to avoid being blocked in the future.

HYPR has always had rules in place to prevent jailbroken devices being used for authentication. Jailbroken devices are prevented from running the HYPR mobile app as well as the HYPR mobile SDK. To further enhance security, our spring release brings additional enhancements to keep the solution up to date and secure.

Updated User Login Flows

When logging into web resources with HYPR, only devices that the user paired appear as an authentication option, making it easier to know which method to authenticate with. If the user has only one type of device paired, then HYPR automatically sends the request, reducing the required clicks during the flow.

In addition to a smoother web login experience, RDP users can now authenticate in a single step. By shifting more of the login control from Microsoft to HYPR, users are not burdened with unnecessary process points and are no longer wasting time in the login operation.

Finally, Mac users can rejoice as HYPR enables the use of Touch ID to unlock their Mac workstation. Touch ID is a FIDO-certified authentication method that employs the security of the platform biometrics to validate a user’s identity in lieu of a password. Combining this with HYPR unlock, all users can log into their computers with FIDO authentication with the methods that works best for them.

The Takeaway

HYPR continues to improve the user experience for end users as well as administrators who rely on ease of deployment and upgrade. Every second counts in performance and it is our goal to deliver lightning-fast experience at every HYPR touch point.
