HYPR PASSWORDLESS MFA SETUP GUIDE
Using Device Manager
HYPR enables you to authenticate into web applications via the HYPR Device Manager. You can log in with the HYPR Mobile App or a compatible authenticator.
Pairing a Device
After you log into your account, you may be redirected to the HYPR Device Manager to pair your smartphone or a compatible FIDO authenticator.
You may also reach this page via a Magic Link provided by your help desk or admin as part of your onboarding or troubleshooting process. The Magic Link takes you directly to Device Manager so you can start pairing immediately.
You will be prompted to pair with a device which may include:
Smartphone: If you have the HYPR Mobile App installed on your smartphone, you may pair it with HYPR for passwordless login.
Security Key: If you have a FIDO authenticator such as a Yubico Yubikey, Feitian ePass K9, or Google Titan, you may also pair it here.
Computer: If your device has a built-in platform authenticator such as Windows Hello, Android Fingerprint, or Touch ID, you may pair with HYPR here.
*Note: Certain options may be restricted based on your organization’s settings.
Pairing a Smartphone with the HYPR Mobile App
Click on the “Smartphone” option to pair your smartphone with HYPR. You will need to install the HYPR Mobile App from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
Click “Begin Pairing” within the Device Manager to reveal the QR code.
Follow the instructions in the prompt to pair your smartphone with the HYPR Device Manager.
Your smartphone will be listed below “My Paired Devices” when you have successfully paired your HYPR Mobile App.
Pairing a Security Key
You may pair a compatible FIDO security key with HYPR by clicking the “Security Key” option. Your browser will prompt you to enroll your security key. How this looks may differ depending on your browser. To pair a Security Key, be sure you are on an up-to-date version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported.
If you haven’t already, insert your authenticator into your USB port, if you haven’t done so. The security key should blink, prompting you to tap it. You may be prompted to provide information on the authenticator make and model. Click “Allow” to proceed.
You have now successfully paired a security key with HYPR, and can use it for passwordless authentication.
Pairing a Computer
If you have a supported built-in authenticator such as Windows Hello, Touch ID on a Macbook, or Android’s fingerprint sensor, you will have the option to enroll your “Computer” in the Device Manager. Click on it, and you will see a prompt from your device to verify your identity. Further prompts and instructions will vary depending on your selected device and browser. To pair your computer, be sure you are on an up-to-date version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Follow your device’s prompt to verify your identity. When completed, you will have successfully paired your device’s built-in authenticator with HYPR for logging into your applications.
HYPR never sees or collects your biometric data. This information remains securely with you on your device.
Authenticating to Your Web Applications
